Richard Eldridge was a boot and shoemaker of Westminster and Greenwich. He married Sarah Scamon, nee Moore, in 1856. Sarah died in 1889 in Greenwich aged 66 and Richard died there in 1906 aged 77. Their son Richard George John Eldridge was born in Pimlico, London in 1865. He was a telegraph messanger in 1881 and later a postman. In 1886 he married Sara Jane Wackett who was born at Greenwich in 1863. They had seven children at Greenwich between 1887 and 1904. The last, Ernest Charles Eldridge, married Eileen Lena Claire Stanhope Bedding in 1928 and they migrated with their four children to Western Australia on the Dorsetshire from Liverpool to Fremantle arriving on 17 Jan 1949. Their fifth child was born in WA.
