JOHN THOMAS ELDRIDGE 1795-????

John Thomas Eldridge was baptised on 26 May 1795 at Christ Church, Stepney, Spitalsfield, Middlesex, England the son of Thomas and Sarah. He was a Private in the Royal Marines. He married Mary Ann Skelton on 13 Apr 1819 at Stoke Dameral, Devon, England. She was born in Devonshire, England. Their eight known children were all born at East Stonehouse, Devonshire and four are known to have emigrated to Australia.

1. Mary Ann married on 27 Nov 1844 at East Stonehouse to David Ware. The family were living at Tiverton, Devonshire in 1851 and David was a Policeman. They emigrated to New Zealand and later to Victoria, Australia in the 1860's with nine of their children.
2. William emigrated and was a storeman shown as aged 34 when he married Mary Anglesey on 6 Aug 1861 at the Wesleyan Church, Geelong, VIC. She was born in Tipperary, Ireland, the daughter of Michael Anglesey, a farmer, and Elicia Burton and was aged 26 on marriage.
3. Sarah was a witness at William's marriage and on 13 Dec 1865 she married at Geelong VIC to James Beaton.
4. Susannah married on 12 May 1866 St John's Church Latrobe Street Melbourne VIC to Thomas Heard.
