Joe and Mary Eldridge circa 1960's
Josiah Rupert Eldridge was born at Crescent Farm Binda on 23 Jan 1892. He moved with his family to Narrandera and first worked for Lincolns Brewery before returning to the Crookwell area to work. He enlisted in the Army at Crookwell in World War One and left Sydney for overseas service on the Beltans on 25 Nov 1916. He fell ill on route and disembarked at Fremantle. Following his discharge as medically unfit on 7 Mar 1917 he returned to the grazing property of his brother Walter Charles. He then settled at Narrandera where he married Mary Ann Hill on 14 Apr 1919. Mary was born at Colinroobie on 18 Apr 1900 the daughter of Robert Warner Hill and Elizabeth Anne Adams. Joe worked for the N.S.W. Government Railways for 32 years. He died at Narrandera on 5 Mar 1970 and Mary at Narrandera on 6 Feb 1984.
